MEMBERSHIP
The Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India activities are running on the basis of its Membership and donations by the philanthropists and like minded people across the nation, besides the research grants from the Govt. of India and other funding organisations. The academy is offering the following categories of Membership:
The Rules of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India provide for membership from among academics, researchers, elected representatives of Panchayati Raj, Nagar Palika Institutions, social scientists, practicing administrators at senior level, NGO functionaries, students, social activists, youth clubs and grassroots women leaders. The eligibility requirements for membership and the procedure are as under:
Eligibility
For Ordinary/Life/Institutional Members, academicians, researchers, elected representatives of Panchayati Raj, Nagar Palika Institutions, NGO functionaries, Youth leaders, Social Activists and Philanthropists may be considered on recommendation of the Executive Council of the Academy.
For Patron, Donor and Corporate Membership, persons having philanthropic nature and significant contributions made to the Indian community, are invited by the Academy, on recommendation of the Executive Council.
Procedure for Admission
- The applicant is required to fill up the prescribed form, which can be had from the AGRASRI headquarters on payment of Rs.100/- (non-refundable) in Cash or through Bank Draft in favour of AGRASRI, Tirupati. The Academy offers Ordinary, Life, Institutional, Corporate, Donor and Patron Membership, for which a membership form is prescribed.
- The application received will be considered by the Executive Council for admission of new members. The recommendation of the Executive Council will be communicated to the applicants which generally takes one-week time.
- In the event of the applicant getting admission as Member, he/she shall be required to pay membership subscription by Cash/Demand Draft/Cheque in favour of Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), Tirupati.
- AGRASRI is offering the following 6 categories of the Membership: Ordinary Member, Life Member, Institutional Member (PRIs, Municipalities/ Corporations, Training and Research Institutions, Colleges/Unviesities, Schools/ NGOs/ Youth Clubs), Corporate Member, Donor Member and Patron Member.
The membership subscription is payable as follows:

An Ordinary Member may, at any time, become a Life Member by making a lump sum payment equal to five times the amount of annual subscription.
The services offered by the Academy to its members include supply of the soft copies of its Working Papers and Occasional Papers, information and advice on panchayati raj administrative problems and participation in the Neelam Sanjiva Reddy Memorial Lecture, Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Lecture, National Panchayati Raj Day Celebrations and AGRASRI Foundation Day Lecture programmes, besides regular National Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and other activities.
The Grassroots Governance Journal (Bi-annual) is supplied to the Life and Corporate (excluding Donors and Patrons) members on payment of 25 per cent of the subscription of the journal and Ordinary members are required to pay 50 per cent subscription for the journal per annum. The research publications of the Academy are supplied to all categories of the members on the basis of payment by DD/Cheque, with 15% discount. All remittances – in the forms of bank DDs’, Cheques – may be drawn in favour of Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), Tirupati and payable at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Add. Rs. 80.00 as bank commission for outstation cheques.
The donations and membership amount can directly remit through NEFT also.
