RESEARCH COUNCIL

In execution of various action research projects and academic programmes, the AGRASRI is also constituted the Research Council, with reputed experts and scholars on panchayati raj and rural development.

The following is the composition of the Research Council of AGRASRI.

PROF. M. GOPINATH REDDY
Senior Research Consultant, Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad

Prof. M. Gopinath Reddy Prof. M. Gopinath Reddy is Senior Research Consultant at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad. He has earlier served as Professor and Head, Division for Sustainable Development Studies, Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad. Prof. Gopinath Reddy is a prolific author and researcher in the fields of Political Science and Natural Resource Management. His areas of specialisation include Decentralised Governance, Institutions and Natural Resource Management, Governance and Poverty Reduction Strategies. He has published a large number of books, research papers and monographs on decentralised governance, livelihood security, sustainable development, watershed management, and resettlement and rehabilitation. He is associated with several Universities, Research Institutes and Training Institutions as an expert and resource person. He has completed several research projects on Local Governance and Sustainable Development funded by prestigious organisations including the World Bank, UNDP and ICSSR. He has guided a number of Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars and served as Project Director for many important research projects relating to Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. Prof. M. Gopinath Reddy is the Chairman of the Research Council of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India from 2024 onwards.

Dr. D. Sundar Ram Dr. D. Sundar Ram is Founder and Director of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India, Tirupati; Editor, The Grassroots Governance Journal (TGGJ), Tirupati and Consulting Editor, The American Biographical Institute (ABI), USA. He was the Doctoral Fellow and Post-Doctoral Fellow (UGC Research Associate) in Political Science and Public Administration at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati; Parliamentary Fellow at the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, New Delhi; and Associate Professor and Head, PG Department of Public Administration at S.S. & N. College PG Centre (Acharya Nagarjuna University), Narasaraopet, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. He is a prolific writer, author, researcher and analyst. He has written extensively on Indian governance and polity, parliamentary studies, electoral reforms, Andhra Pradesh State politics, decentralisation, federalism and good governance, with over 25 books, 153 research papers and 32 talks in All India Radio to his credit. He was selected as ICSSR Senior Fellow by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education, Government of India, for a two-year tenure with the affiliation of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, in February 2017 and successfully completed the Senior Fellowship assignment in January 2019. Dr. D. Sundar Ram is the Member-Secretary of the Research Council of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India from 2017 onwards.

PROF. YATINDRA SINGH SISODIA
Professor and Director, Madhya Pradesh Institute of Social Science Research, Ujjain

Prof. Yatindra Singh Sisodia Prof. Yatindra Singh Sisodia is Professor and Director of the Madhya Pradesh Institute of Social Science Research, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. His areas of interest include democracy, decentralised governance, electoral politics, tribal issues and developmental studies. He is the Editor of the Madhya Pradesh Journal of Social Sciences and Madhya Pradesh Samajik Vigyan Anushandhan Journal. A prolific author and researcher, he has authored and edited 16 books, written 5 monographs and published 75 research papers. Prof. Sisodia has completed 35 research projects sponsored by Central and State Ministries and prestigious organisations including the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the Planning Commission of India. He was conferred the Prof. G. Ram Reddy Social Scientist Award (2017) for his significant contribution to research in Panchayati Raj and Grassroots Democracy. He served as Member of the Research Institutes Committee of ICSSR, New Delhi (2017–2018) and Member of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) under the Sub-Commission on Social Sciences constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India (2013–2018). He has undertaken academic visits to the United States under the International Visitor Leadership Program (2010), the United Kingdom (2013), South Korea and Malaysia. Prof. Yatindra Singh Sisodia is the Member of the Research Council of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India from 2017 onwards.

PROF. N. SIVANNA
Hon. Professor, Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayati Raj University, Gadag

Prof. N. Sivanna is Honorary Professor at the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayati Raj University, Gadag (Karnataka). He has been Professor, Centre for Political Institutions, Development and Governance at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru. His areas of Specialisations are: Decentralisation; Rural and Urban Governance; Development Administration; and Bureaucracy and Development. Prof. Sivanna has published a large number of research books, papers and monographs on Panchayats and Watershed Development; Urban Governance & Organisational Restructuring; The Land Army and Rural Development; and Engendering Rural Local Governance in Karnataka. He is associated with the Government of Karnataka, Government of India and Ford Foundation as an expert on Decentralised Governance and Watershed Management. Prof. N. Sivanna is Member of the Research Council of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India from 2017 onwards.

PROF (MRS) CH. SHEELA REDDY
Professor of Political Science, Central University of Andhra Pradesh, Anantapur

Prof (Mrs) Ch. Sheela Reddy is Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, Central University of Andhra Pradesh, Anantapur. She has been Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair Professor in Social Justice at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi and Principal, SV Arts College (University of Delhi), Delhi.
Prof. Sheela Reddy areas of Specialisations are: Governance, Public Policy Issues and International Relations. Earlier, she worked at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, as Assistant Professor. She is the Programme Co-Director of the prestigious 42nd Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. She is the Resource Person for many Training Programmes of Govt. of India and other State Governments on governance and public policy. She has associated and collaborated with many civil service institutes and organised various training programmes for young civil servants in India and abroad. Prof (Mrs) Ch. Sheela Reddy is the Member of the Research Council of the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India from 2021 onwards.
